Description

Muskeg Lake Cree Nation is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to assist and support the Prevention Department on a Full-time basis. MCLN prides ourselves in fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where every team member can contribute to our success. The Youth Mentor is responsible for providing direct child and youth services that promote individual wellness, healthy relationships, and lifestyle choices. This role includes providing the children and youth with support services, advocacy, programs, and activities. The Youth Mentor will demonstrate Leadership skills while role modeling, mentoring, and coaching.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:
    Always maintain strict confidentiality;
    Work closely with the Prevention Program Manager and all front-line workers;
    Promote the Prevention program to community membership as opportunities arise;
    Work within the case management team to support family centered case plans focusing on the short- and long-term goals for the children/youth ensuring on-going support is available;
    Providing information of available community services and support to the children/youth in need;
    Promote and provide information on effective healthy lifestyle choices and resiliency;
    Support and assist in the development of culturally based projects and activities that are land based;
    Link and support children/youth to attend activities in community pertaining to children/youth;
    Have an understanding and promote/teach healthy strategies pertaining to parent teen conflict and anger management;
    Develop and provide monthly case reports as necessary (guided and supported by the Case Manager);
    Have an awareness pertaining to the safety of the child/youth and report issues to the appropriate authority;
    Maintain confidential, accurate, and documentation as per best practice standard (guided and supported by the Case Manager);
