 Description  : General Description
Technicians are expected to diagnose, repair & service all makes and models of generators for which they are certified to work on.
Scope of Work
• Perform repairs & services on all makes & models of generator sets
• Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps
• Determine corrective action through inspection of failed parts
• Apply proper engine technical skills in inspection, disassembly, failure analysis, assembly, diagnosis & engine operation
• Troubleshooting equipment and servicing generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches and battery systems
• Inspections, repairs, services & start up load bank test requirements on equipment

Responsibilities (include but will not be limited to)
• Perform emergency service, preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting & instructions for customer generators as efficiently as possible
• Provide customer with a positive experience through courteous interactions.
• Provide customers with instructions regarding operation of their generator as required in a courteous & efficient manner.
• Test, measure & verify electrical component operations, including energized components & electrical fields
• Program & test transfer switches.
• Program, test and troubleshoot both generator set & synchronizing control system
• Conduct start ups & load bank test as required
• Operate / Diagnose engine driven gensets powered by diesel &/or natural gas
• Build strong customer relationships by engaging in positive professional communications
• Maintain all company owned tools & materials
• Follow all company procedures concerning the following: inventory management, billing, expenses, customer relations
• Communicate with the supervisor on all aspects of service
• Complete required service reports in full after each service call
• Be able to aid / back up for generator installations as required
• Management of a pre-determined amount of money to be used as a “float” of cash for on site expenses (details in appendix A)
• Collaborate with other technicians for purposes of sharing knowledge and diagnosing units
• Maintain vehicle to the standards set out in the company handbook
• Operate company vehicles within all posted speed limits & other rules of the road.
• Participate in training, certification courses & schooling as required. See company handbook for specifics on how this will work.
• Other related duties as required
