Wesdome Gold Mines has had over 30 years of continuous gold mining operations in Canada. The Company is 100% Canadian focused with a pipeline of projects in various stages of development. The Company’s strategy is to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer, producing 200,000+ ounces from two mines in Ontario and Quebec. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.

A full time and permanent vacancy exist for a Medium Long-Term Engineer. Reporting to the Eagle River Engineering Superintendent or Chief Engineer, the successful candidate will be part of the Technical Services Department and must be reliable. Candidate is expected to work well as a member of a team to ensure a safe and productive workplace. The Eagle River Complex located at 93 Mission Rd, Wawa, ON P0S1K0 is currently producing gold the Eagle River Underground Mine.

Responsibilities / Job Duties Performed

• Conduct all work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants and all other applicable government standards and regulations.
• Be proficient in AutoCad, Promine, Deswik and Excel and maintain any vent related documents within these programs.
• Gain a fundamental knowledge of the working mine drawings in order to act as a secondary check if requested.
• Supervise and work with members of the team to ensure that the mine plan is followed in an effective and productive manner
• Be responsible for the creation, presentation, and edits of all high-level stope designs.
• Create a complete life of mine plan for the Eagle River Mine and any other sites if they become active.
• Present the life of mine, as well as work with all levels of the organization to ensure the information is as accurate and economical as possible.
• Maintain and optimize the life of mine on a consistent basis as new information becomes available while closely working with the Geology team.
• Work with the short-term planning team to ensure that there are no missed opportunities, and that all potential recovery opportunities are considered.
• Confer with the ventilation team and any necessary consultants often to ensure that all necessary vent planning and infrastructure is estimated and budgeted as required.
• Coordinate with the Electrical Department on a regular basis to ensure that the electrical infrastructure is able to supply the future mine plans and that all are required upgrades are budgeted/received in a timely manner.
• Assist junior members of the department in their professional growth through coaching and sharing your knowledge.
• Commit to proper pre-operational check and safe operation of any equipment required for the job

Education Requirements
• A Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering

Required Credentials
• Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and in good standing order with PEO or eligible for registration
• Common Core would be beneficial. Those without it must complete it after arrival within 90 days

Experience Requirements
• Several years experience an underground mining engineer
• Be technically competent and have a good understanding of key mining business drivers.
• Strong design and scheduling skills would be an asset.

Work Conditions
• This position is located at our Eagle River Mine location near Wawa, Ontario.
• In this role, you will work a 14/14 schedule and therefore you will be accommodated in our camp with all the amenities.
• 11 hours day shift
