Job Description:
As a Camera Operator the successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing and shooting various ads/films scenes across outdoor and indoor locations. Able to review locations to check for the weather conditions, natural lighting, and other environmental factors before shooting. Should be technically sound and have the knowledge of various shooting equipment and tools. Be able to handle the camera properly and ensure all equipment is kept in good condition and working order. Able to coordinate with the Director and other creative personnel to determine the shoot requirements. Should be willing to travel to different locations and work flexible hours. This is a full-time permanent position (40hrs/week) based in Kamloops, BC.
Primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
• Work with directors to determine all aspects of shots
• Provide practical and creative input to scene planning
• Select, assemble and position equipment (cameras, stands, software etc.)
• Prepare cameras and test angles or camera movements
• Shoot scenes according to requirements
• Capture quality footage from a fixed or moving position
• Collaborate with make-up artists, lighting and sound staff to produce the best final effect
• Resolve technical or practical issues
• Edit footage as needed
• Reviewing the final product to ensure it is as per the desired outcome.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Languages: English
Qualification & Skills:
• A college diploma or equivalent experience in a related field is preferred.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook are desirable.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and DaVinci Resolve 18 will be an asset.
• Able to demonstrate a keen eye for composition, colour, lighting and camera movement to convey emotion.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with NFPA 140 Standards, WorkSafe BC Standards, ActSafe Standards, Transport Canada Standards, Reel Green Sustainability Standards and other federal, provincial and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Experience Level:
• Experience in a related field will be an asset.
