Capilano Builders Ltd. located at Unit 3, 1433 Rupert Street, North Vancouver, BC V7J 1G1 is looking for three (3) reliable, experienced Lead Hand Carpenters to join our team. The wage range offered is $30.00 to $40.00 per hour working depending on experience and working 40 hours per week. These are full-time, year-round positions. Benefits include extended health and dental. Benefits are available after completing the 3-month probationary period. Our ideal candidates will have an aptitude for precision and can accommodate unique building requirements from clients. We require candidates who have at least 5 years experience as a carpenter.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform all aspects of frame construction from site prep, formwork, concrete, framing, to installation of flooring, siding, windows, drywall, cabinetry, trusses, roofing and finishing work, according to plans and specifications
• Efficiently aid Site Supervisor & PM to complete projects on budget and on time
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Measure, cut, and install various fixtures and millwork for doors, windows, ceiling panels, staircases, decking, furniture, cabinets, etc.
• Erect scaffolding or ladders as needed
• Collaborate with other carpenters, journeymen, and supervisors to complete projects
• May be required to supervise subtrades, other carpenters and labourers
• Troubleshoot and repair issues with building components and equipment
• Follow established regulations and advocate for safety on each worksite
Requirements and Qualifications
• Completion of vocational education in carpentry/building required.
• 5+ years of carpentry experience.
• Must have strong organizational skills, experience running a crew, managing subtrades, ordering materials and doing lumber take-offs.
• must be competent in all areas of residential frame construction.
• Carpentry ticket or Red Seal Certificate in Carpentry is preferred.
• Must have the ability to use equipment and materials applicable to the construction and carpentry trades.
• Knowledge of local building codes.
• Good physical condition and stamina.
• Keen attention to detail
• Blueprint reading skills
• Must have own safety and carpentry trade tools
• Must have own transportation and valid driver’s licence
