Job Description

- Operating and driving trucks with three axles to transport goods and materials as required

- Safely loading, handling, and transporting goods and heavy cargo safely

- Recording both materials picked up and delivered, performing pre-trip, en-route and maintain their vehicles before driving, updating lines, routes, total mileage and breaks every day

- Reporting any accidents or delays to supervisors, ensuring inspection and repairs to keep their vehicle safe and legal to operate

- Obeying traffic laws and following established traffic and transportation procedures

- Verifying the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers

- Performing emergency repairs like changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains and spark plugsĀ·

- Reading maps and following written and verbal geographic directions; reporting mechanical problems with vehicles

- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Transport and handle dangerous goods
