Job duties:
• Purchase auto parts for resale to individual customers (retail) and auto garages (wholesale)
• Review auto part requirements and determine type and quantity of auto parts to purchase
• Select the auto parts commensurate with market demand and react to changes in customer demand
• Study market reports, trade periodicals and sales promotion materials and visit trade shows and showrooms of suppliers
• Meet with suppliers and negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms and transportation arrangements
• Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products
• Oversee distribution of merchandise and maintain adequate stock levels
• Regularly reviewing performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels
• Presenting new auto parts to senior retail managers
Basic Qualifications:
• Post-Secondary Education
• Previous work experience of minimum 7 months – 1 year as an Assistant Buyer in wholesale auto parts store.
