Job Summary:

The Central Eglinton Children's Centre seeks two registered early childhood educators to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and implementing inclusive, inquiry-based learning activities that promote children's well-being and holistic development. It is essential to have a deep understanding and knowledge of key regulations and guidelines, including the Child Care and Early Years Act (CEYA), the City of Toronto's Assessment for Quality Improvement tool (AQI), the Ministry of Education's "How Does Learning Happen?" – Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years, and the Health and Safety requirements set forth by Toronto Public Health.

Duties and responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children;
• Supporting positive interactions by cultivating authentic, caring relationships;
• Providing support and adapting activities to meet the individual needs of children with diverse abilities and learning styles;
• Participating in team meetings to discuss curriculum, children's progress, and any relevant issues;
• Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices, early childhood education trends, and relevant research;
• Implementing strategies to foster positive social interactions and emotional well-being among children;
• Acting as a leader in the classroom and collaborating with fellow team members to implement a high-quality program in line with our child-led, play-based curriculum;
• Preparing a daily programme plan that allows children to explore, investigate, play, inquire, and wonder;
• Listening, observing, documenting, and discussing children's learning, with colleagues, with our families and with the community;
• Sharing ideas and best practices with teams at weekly planning meetings and staff meetings;
• Effectively prepare materials according to weekly programme plan;
• Fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment for toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and school-age children, including those with special needs;
• Providing individualized support to children with varying abilities, ensuring their participation in all activities and promoting their overall well-being;
• Developing and coordinating activities for school-aged children in childcare programs during pre and post regular school hours.
• Ensuring the overall health, safety and well-being of the children enrolled in the
Program.
Qualifications:

• Minimum 2+ years’ proven work experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator;
• Has graduated from a provincially approved programme in Early Childhood Education and is registered and “in good standing” with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Must be compliant with the College of Early Childhood Educator’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
• Completion of secondary school is required;
• Mandatory First Aid/CPR Certificate required;
• RECE registration number
? Vulnerable Screening Check from a Police Service
? Fit to Work Medical Assessment from a licensed physician, and up to date immunization.
? Standard 1st Aid and CPR training
? Food Handler Certificate is an asset

Is required to:

• Lift – various height levels, bend, stretch, twist, kneel, carry, crouch, climb, push, pull, grip;
• Assist children with toileting, when necessary, and may handle soiled clothing and linen.

Is exposed to:
? Chemicals – cleaning disinfectants
? Noise – children, machinery
