Job Requirements and Duties: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Load and unload goods. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, on route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. May be required to drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Drive manual transmission vehicle, Type of trucking and equipment; Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer. Air Brakes Endorsement, Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Driver's License (Class 1 or A) License. Willing to travel cross-border. Willing to travel for extended periods
Willing to travel overnight. Overtime may be required. Should show professionalism in customer service, show efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication & excellent written communication. Should show flexibility, good judgement, be organized, be reliable, show attention to detail and be a team player. Requires Sitting for extended periods of time. Documentation knowledge; Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans-border documentation & Trip reports. Communication systems experience; Citizens band (CB) radio, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, Trip recorder (on-board computer). Transportation/travel experience; International, Long-haul, National, Provincial/territorial, Regional. Security and safety; Driver's validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract)
