Job Description and Qualifications
Clear Focus Optical is looking for an experienced and qualified individual to work as an Optometrist Assistant. This person will assist with answering phone calls and emails, greeting patients, and scheduling and cancelling optical examinations and appointments. This person should be able to multitask and bill third party insurances for optometry and optical services and products. The ability to work as part of a team and in a dynamic environment is paramount. This person must be consistent, professional, punctual, and maintain a professional appearance.
Job Duties:
• Recording accurate patient information and insurance details
• Cleaning examination rooms and ensure a sanitary environment is available for all patients
• Instructing patients on diagnostic testing, pre-exam testing, and record results
• Connecting with patients to see how they are adjusting to contact lenses or new glasses prescriptions
• Fitting patients with suitable eyewear following an optometrist’s prescription
• Ordering optometric supplies and maintaining inventory levels of contact lenses, glasses, and vision care accessories
Skills (education, experience):
• Completion of secondary school
• Minimum of 3 years experience in optical/optometric business required
• Must be able to use biomicroscope, keratometer, and other optometric equipment
• Must have completed the Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant Program from the Canadian Optometric Association (“CCOA”) or have completed an equivalent course/program
