Position Summary
Grow your Laboratory career in the stunning Kootenay Rockies region! We now have a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist opportunity at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) in Trail, B.C. This relief opportunity is expected to be until September 2024 or the return of the current incumbent. Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage rate will be $36.69 - $45.70 per hour.

What will you work on:

As an MLT, you will work in a team-based environment and perform a variety of duties within the Microbiology department. Days of work are rotating and shift times include a combination of day, evening and night shifts. MLT duties may include routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, collecting and/or receiving specimens, entering data into the Lab Information System (LIS), validating/reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents.

KBRH is a 75-bed acute care site in the Kootenay Boundary health service area and is responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services. Located in Trail, between Grand Forks and Nelson, KBRH offers services including core physician specialties, 24-hour emergency and trauma services, Level 2 laboratory, acute and obstetrical care, psychiatry, and chemotherapy.

Community Profile: Trail is nestled between the glorious Monashee and Selkirk mountains on the banks of the Columbia River, approximately 10 km north of the US border. The area is surrounded by nature and offers many family-friendly amenities and a variety of retail, businesses and services.

Qualfications
• Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
• Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BCSLS and/or CSMLS
• One (1) year recent related experience
