Based in Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia, Captain Atlantic is an international seafood import and export company committed to delivering the freshest and highest quality seafood to our customers worldwide. We offer a diverse range of seafood products, including fresh and frozen fish, shrimp, lobster, and more. In light of our expanding business, we are currently seeking a Bookkeeper to join our team.

Job Description
Job Title: Bookkeeper (NOC 12200)
Position Available: 1
Location: Shag Harbour, NS

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $24/hr, 35 hours/week

Job Responsibilities:
–Manage general ledgers and financial statements, post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance.
-Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable by reviewing and verifying invoices.
-Record all financial transactions meticulously, perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of transactions, conduct account reconciliations to resolve any discrepancies.
-Prepare and process invoices, bills, and payments; process payroll and ensure timely payment to employees.
-Generate statistical, financial, and accounting reports, along with a trial balance of books.
-Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, monitor budgets and track expenses to ensure adherence to financial goals.


Job Requirements:
Education
-Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field, or graduation from a recognized professional accounting program, or completion of accounting or bookkeeping courses coupled with substantial related experience.

Experience
-Proven experience in accounting and tax services is preferred.

Skills
-Proficiency in accounting principles and practices, including but not limited to accounts payable, payroll processing, and general accounting principles, etc.
-Familiarity with account reconciliation procedures, financial statement preparation, and budgeting processes.
-Strong communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
-Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
-Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
-Strong analytical thinking skills.
