Job Description:
• Maintain records of food costs, invoices, sales, and inventory
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
• Supervise activities of cooks and other kitchen workers
• Instruct cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
• Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
• Order food and kitchen supplies and receive and store orders
• Estimate food requirements and maintain optimal labor costs throughout service
• Ensure food meets quality standards
• Leading/instructing individuals
• Inspect kitchens and food service areas
• Clean kitchen and work areas
• Coordinate timing of dish completion with other cooks
• Label and store or dispose of all unused items
• Perform duties in accordance with Ontario Health and Safety Standards
• Conduct Line Checks and Pre-shift meetings prior to service
• Foster an atmosphere of respectful communication, cooperation and positivity among all team members

Requirements:
- Education: Completion of high school is required
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year experience as a Jr Sous Chef or Sous Chef in a comparable business is required. In the event that the candidate does not have 1 year of relevant experience then equivalent credentials, training OR cook’s trade certificate is required.
- Experience and knowledge of Italian cuisine is a strong asset
- Experience in high volume kitchen is a strong asset

Important information: Flexibility in schedule is required. Position requires extended work hours, including evening, night, weekend, and holidays as needed. The candidate will work 6 to 10 hours a day within the rotational shifts that are available from 9:00 AM up to 1:00 AM.
