This role reports into the above mentioned office, however NORR offers all of its employees the opportunity to work either from home, from a NORR office or even from a remote location.  The choice is yours.

We are in search of a Structural Designer who will collaborate with members of the engineering team to develop innovative engineering design solutions that align with the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of building projects. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to analyze and interpret design intent to deliver efficient and effective technical design solutions. They will work in close collaboration with other professional disciplines, ensuring seamless coordination throughout all project phases, leveraging their expertise in building engineering systems, materials, codes, and construction technologies.


Responsibilities:


  • Designing various components of building structures, integrating architectural design while adhering to relevant codes and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Assessing engineering design requirements and producing detailed drawings to support construction projects.
  • Conducting engineering tasks such as calculations, code research, material and building systems research, component layout, and area calculations.
  • Evaluating existing conditions and conducting construction reviews to accurately document new construction conditions.
  • Synthesizing and coordinating technical information to develop engineering specifications for Project Manuals.
  • Reviewing project products, services, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project documents, applicable codes, and corporate quality controls.


Required Skills:


  • Proficiency in engineering software, including AutoCAD, Revit Structure, and other structural engineering systems design software.
  • Strong knowledge of building structural systems and various building types.
  • Familiarity with architectural design concepts and building codes.


Professional Qualifications and Experience:


  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from an accredited university, preferably with coursework in concrete, steel, and wood design and exposure to structural dynamics, seismic response, and seismic design.
  • 4 to 7 years of project work experience.
  • Registration with a relevant professional engineering association.
  • Experience in designing various structural engineering building systems.
