Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner RN (NP) blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The RN (NP) practices within a framework of evidence based care, health promotion and disease and injury prevention. The practice involves building partnerships with residents, families and other disciplines. This includes resident assessments, supporting inter-professional collaboration and participating in continuous improvement. The LTC NP reports directly to the Nurse Manager of Tatagwa View. The NP will work to full scope of practice of an RN (NP) and promotes quality health care outcomes and standards to ensure that residents of Tatagwa View receive a high standard of care.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner Masters Program
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) as an RN (NP)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Experience
Minimum of three (3) years experience working as a Registered Nurse, with experience as RN (NP).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to apply research to nursing practice
  • Ability to competently use computers and software applications as required by the position
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships and communication with other health care professionals
  • Ability to lead best practice
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Clinical/health assessment, diagnostic, pharmacotherapeutic and therapeutic intervention skills working to the scope of practice of the RN(NP) role.
  • Communication skills to provide/obtain verbal and/or written opinions/advice
  • Critical thinking and accurate interpretation of complex information from a variety of sources, including client data, environmental factors, test results, nursing assessment indicators required for safe and effective client care
  • Demonstrated clinical competency including critical thinking skills and confidence to work autonomously.

Additional Information

Will provide visiting services to sites within the service area. The service area is subject to change. Recruitment Incentives may be available to the succesful applicant.
