Job Description & Job Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the foreman, the Concrete Finisher will work as part of a team to complete a variety of project related tasks. These include:
- Finishing on commercial and infrastructure projects, smooth and finish freshly poured concrete on job sites.
- Operate power vibrators to compact concrete, level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specifications.
- Remove high spots and fill in holes or depressions to ensure freshly poured concrete is level and smooth according to specifications.
- Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures, floors or roads.
- Use hand and ride on power trowels to achieve finish.
- Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces.
- Waterproof, damp proof and restore surfaces.
Work Settings:
As a Concrete Finisher, work settings may vary depending on the job. These settings may include: rural, urban, commercial, industrial, roads and/or bridges.
Work Site Environment:
As a Concrete Finisher, it is important to note that jobs may be dusty, at heights, cold/refrigerated, dangerous, hot, noisy, outdoor and/or wet/damp.
Types of Materials:
Employees will be working with materials including: colours, sealers, hardeners and epoxy, lightweight concrete, reinforcing membrane and protective covering.
Tools/Equipment:
All employees are required to have the following: steel toed safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses/goggles and ear plugs.
Employee Transportation Requirements:
Employees will be required to commute frequently around the city and occasionally around the province for work. Due to this, all employees are required to have transportation to and from job sites.

Employees shall receive 1.5% more than the regular wage for any hours worked over 8 hours per day up to 44 regular hours worked per week.
Employees are entitled to min. 30 minutes per daybreak time - employees are entitled to at least 30 minutes of rest (break) during every 5-hour work period. If an employer and an employee agree, the break may be taken in 2 periods of at least 15 minutes (lunch, coffee breaks, etc…)
Employees are entitled to 2 day(s) off per week and this will vary depending on the job schedule unless overtime on the weekend is necessary. Up to five days of job-protected unpaid sick leave and three days of bereavement leave for the loss of a family member.
Employees are entitled to 9.6% combined Holiday and Vacation Pay computed on the Employee’s regular pay per year.
