MENTAL WELLNESS COORDINATOR for MHC RATTLER STUDENT ATHLETES
Coulee Collegiate, in partnership with Medicine Hat College, is seeking a part time Mental Wellness Coordinator to join our team to help support MHC Rattler Student Athletes. The Mental Wellness Coordinator will possess knowledge of mental health and wellness along with passion and care for the overall wellbeing of all MHC student athletes. An ability to create connections with athletes, coaches, staff, MHC professionals, community members & agencies, as well as health care providers is essential in this role.
Description:
Under the guidance of the Coulee Collegiate school principal, the Mental Health Coordinator will provide mental wellness and healthy lifestyle promotion, prevention and early intervention strategies for Medicine Hat College Rattler Student Athletes. Delivery of programming could include some large group sessions, but primarily involves working with athletes during their scheduled practice times. The successful candidate must be available for flexible evening work, which would coordinate well for interested candidates with other workday commitments. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: raising awareness & promoting positive mental health & wellness; increasing knowledge & overall education around healthy lifestyles; meeting with athletes once every two weeks; development of a mental wellness program for long term use by student athletes; creation & use of assessment/feedback tools to measure participant understanding. The Mental Wellness Coordinator will work collaboratively with Rattler staff on Make Some Noise for Mental Health initiatives as required.
The successful applicant will work alongside another Mental Wellness Coordinator, and work with approximately half of the MHC Rattler teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education degree or degree/diploma in Social Work; preferred
- Diploma in related health or social science field may be considered
- Experience working with athletes at the collegiate level - considered an asset
- Proven experience delivering programming, teaching, and public speaking
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication, creative thinking, and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team environment
Terms of Employment:
- Part Time flexible working schedule
- End of August 2025 - End of April 2026; possibility of renewal
- Salary range: $10,000 for approximately half of the Rattler teams, dependent upon education and/or relevant working experience
