Job Summary
The Psychiatric Registered Nurse II is responsible for the coordination of professional standards of psychiatric nursing care for a unit, program, or a specialized service. Work also involves administrative planning, organizing, and evaluating services, including participating in and implementing educational or promotional activities. May also perform some patient care work at the Psychiatric Registered Nurse I level.
The Psychiatric Registered Nurse II coordinates and organizes patient care assignments, coordinates the transfer of patients, guides working relationships amongst staff, and acts as a liaison between departments within the organization to ensure effective day-to-day functioning. They will also complete in-depth screening assessments for intake or discharge, determine patient risk, make recommendations for appropriate intervention/service and may provide individual intervention to patients such as identifying education needs, counseling, treatment options and/or crisis intervention, if required.

Regularly uses fine finger/precision work requiring steadiness and accurate movement/control.
Visual concentration is required to observe a patient's behaviour and body language.
Occasionally, required to drive to patients homes for visits or to accompany them to community agencies or resources.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing OR a diploma in Nursing supplemented by a Post-Basic course or CNA Certification in Psychiatric Nursing is required.
Practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Active certification in BCLS.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience within the last seven (7) years in Mental Health with experience in psychiatric rehabilitation, acute psychiatric care or ambulatory psychiatric care.
Experience with Mental Health and Addictions and Suboxone/Methadone administration would be an asset.
Demonstrated competency in the clinical area in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings.
Demonstrated competency in the areas of crisis intervention, supportive counseling for individuals and family, resource coordination and skills development.
Demonstrated initiative, team collaboration, interpersonal skills, leadership abilities and an ability to work independently and part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrated organizational, communication, critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
