Brightshores Health System operates six hospitals in the Grey Bruce region serving a population of over 170,000. The Owen Sound hospital is a Level 2 regional referral centre, offering a full range of specialty services through the Departments of Anaesthesia, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General/Thoracic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology).
Thriving rural hospitals are also located in Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, in-patient and emergency needs. Another five hospitals located within the region also refer to our specialists.
Facilities
With 24-hour labs, excellent specialty back-up and comprehensive diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability), our regional centre is exceptionally well equipped. The new Markdale hospital is now completed and includes modern ambulatory care and procedure room space.
Practice & Service Delivery
• Primary based in Owen Sound, support the Grey Bruce Diabetes Program and team with specialist consultations, follow-ups, and relevant testing
• Develop and establish ambulatory clinics at one or two outlying Brightshores Hospital sites
• Provide endocrinology inpatient care services, including patient admissions, discharges, and consultations; ad-hoc emergency department consults
• Private outpatient practice with centralized and collaborative referral process with existing specialist
• Medical education opportunities for specialist residents and family medicine residents
• Opportunity for research support through the Brightshores Research Institute
Qualifications
Candidates should hold an FRCPC designation in Endocrinology, or equivalent, and have an independent license to practice in Ontario.
Equivalent qualifications from other jurisdictions will be considered for CPSO supervisory licensure.
Compensation & Support
• Estimated Annual Earnings: Varies depending on patient volume and types of services provided
• Median Annual Salary: $292,341 CAD (Based on Ontario Job Bank data (2022–2023))
