Description

The Cook is responsible for the preparation of daily meals and menus, as well as for ceremonies and other special meetings. They are responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas as well as ensuring the equipment is kept in working order. They are responsible for the duties of the Kitchen Supervisor when the supervisor is away.

OPERATIONAL DUTIES/CLIENT SUPPORT

Learn the food ordering system and be a backup for the Kitchen Supervisor
* Work with the Kitchen Supervisor to develop menus.
Prepares or assists in preparation of complete meals- preparing and cooking soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods, etc.
Requires a good knowledge of principles and quantity cooking and experience in quantity cooking of vegetables, meat, fish and poultry, baked goods, etc.
Assists in menu planning and recipe development
Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean an orderly condition
Clean or prepare various foods for cooking or serving
May be responsible for checking supplies and groceries received in work area
Putting away deliver food or supplies into the appropriate area
Attend all mandatory team meetings, training initiatives and working groups
Adhere to the weekly planning schedule as set out by the kitchen supervisor which identifies weekly roles and responsibilities
Participates in supervision meeting to improve skills and abilities
Identify and report immediately to your supervisor any inappropriate and unethical behaviour witnessed of staff or clientele
Adhere to established Battlefords Treatment Centre policies, code of professional conduct, and code of ethics which holds all staff accountable for their behavior and professionalism.
Support the Accreditation process and adhere to all Accreditation processes and standards as per the Canadian Accreditation Council
Performs other related duties as assigned
