As the ideal candidate, you hold a University degree in mechanical engineering and eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada, or, a three year college diploma in technology related to a building science discipline, combined with an accreditation as a Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) and five years of practical experience.

You possess knowledge of:

	General principles of management;
	Industry standards in contracting with professionals such as Architects, Engineers and Construction Contractors; 
	Facility management delivery process from pre-planning and programming, through design, construction, commissioning;
	Principles of mechanical engineering and design;
	Critical design analysis;
	Building science and technology as applicable to institutional and commercial buildings;
	Building operation and maintenance.

You have experience:
 
	Working in a museum environment or in a specialized institution and in managing a team of building specialists in capital projects and in the management of contracts with professionals such as architects, engineers and construction contractors;
	Managing building operations and maintenance contracts for purpose-built buildings such as museums and having a central heating plant, special architectural components and exterior grounds;
	In short and long range planning for institutional and commercial buildings up to 100,000 square meters in size, housing and an important range of different occupancy types;
	Analyzing program requirements and proposing long-term strategic solutions to meet these needs;
	Resolving complex design issues;
	Managing building projects;
	Managing financial and human resources;
	Researching design and technical issues and produce reports

Other conditions of employment:

Since you will be working in a highly computerized environment, a demonstrated experience of word processing (Word), electronic spreadsheet (Excel), presentation (Power Point) and electronic mail (Outlook) is required.

Qualifications:

	Minimum Undergraduate Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering.
	Minimum 8 years of experience in a Systems, Test, Quality, V&amp;V or equivalent role in the railway industry.
	Proven experience in the testing and commissioning of railway systems and subsystems.
	Knowledge of North American railway standards.
	Strong understanding of systems engineering and project processes and disciplines as evidenced through 3 years experience working on mid ($10-100M) to large sized projects ($100M+).
	Familiarity with test and configuration management tools an asset.
	Great analytical skills.
	Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or eligible.
	Previous supervisory experience with small, distributed teams is important.
	Knowledge of transit rail industry and related systems is essential.
