Our behalf of our client, Century Group Constructors Inc. (CGI), with offices located in Victoria, Vancouver and Toronto, we are searching for a Project Manager to join their Victoria office.

Reporting to the Vice-President of Operations, the Project Manager will be an integral part of a collaborative team of professionals.

Management Responsibilities:

• Assist in estimating, trade evaluation, and trade relationships.
• Investigate, develop and implement company processes and procedures along with staff and senior leadership.
• Client support and facilitation.
• Quality management, supervision and communication.
• Work within a team of Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Project Supervisors, Contract Managers, and Health & Safety to deliver safe, quality projects.
• Cooperate fully with the Project Superintendent to get the project completed.
• Project administration, cost control, scheduling and quality management.
• Mentor, advisor, and supporter to staff.
• Instill a positive working relationship with the Owner and Architect to ensure repeat business.
• Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for Owners, and ensure timely payment of sub-contractor billings.
• Monitor, in conjunction with the Site Superintendent, the project material and labour costs, and ensure accurate quality reporting is being conducted.
• Can read, interpret, analyze and forecast a project’s cost reports and determine the status of the job in terms of schedule and costing.
• Be aware of unit costs and monitor and compare daily progress onsite with that of the project’s estimate in conjunction with the Site Superintendent.
• Recognize competent subordinates’ worthy of promotion and be abreast of position vacancies to ensure staff progression.
• Conduct project meetings, bi-weekly or monthly as needed.
• Coordinate, manage and communicate with all sub-contractors and effectively deal with problems such as delivery, labour, schedule and payment disputes.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of trade unions, their agreements, and stipulations.
• Ensure that the project is in a positive cash flow position and prepare Project Manager reports accurately and timely for submission to the Director.
• Monitor and or maintain all site instructions, request for information, notice of change and change order logs.
• Be responsible for ensuring the Project Schedule is maintained.

Education, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

• Educational and experience requirements include Engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training plus two years of experience / knowledge of construction, design, finance and management required.
• Proven ability and 3-5 years of project management experience in commercial, retail, and institutional construction is preferred.
• Must have the ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance and engagement, and recognize and utilize the diverse strengths of the team.
• Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on project activities is vital.
• Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence etc.) skills are essential.
• Proficiency in department’s computer system, department software, and typing necessary.
