 Description  : At WCL, we specialize in Roadway Construction, Earth moving, Industrial Site Preparation and General Contracting Services. Our projects vary in location generally from the Edmonton area well into Northern Alberta.

Job Summary :

Our team is seeking Project Supervisors (Construction Site Foreman) with extensive experience in Heavy Equipment operation and leading minimum to large sized crews. This is a full time permanent role based in a fast paced field environment with a pay rate of $ 39.00 per hour plus benefits.

The project supervisor has extensive experience in heavy equipment operation, maintenance and leadership of medium to large sized work crews. Acting as a representative of the company, the project supervisor ensures that all guidelines, standards, and requirements are met in a safe and productive manner.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Assists in pre-planning of projects with operations/clients/stakeholders.
• Lead and supervise all employees including on-site subcontractors.
• Operate heavy equipment assigned to projects.
• Inspect, maintain and depending on work location perform minor repairs to avoid project delays and disruption of work schedule.
• Act as a leader in health and safety and report to the H&S Dept.
• Report and document incidents, hazards, injuries and illnesses.
• Coordinate with Alberta One Call for all ground disturbance.
• Ensure all permits from clients/stakeholders are obtained daily.
• Conducts detailed project hazard assessments and meetings.
• Adheres to the company’s environmental policies and procedures.
• Act in accordance with the environmental protection legislation.
• Conducts employee training, evaluates competency of workers and provides quarterly performance evaluations of all crew members.
• Complete incident investigations and provide details to the H&S Dept.
• Reports and documents all maintenance deficiencies promptly.
• Ensures that workers are trained and competent in their respective roles.
• Together with the Health and Safety Manager create emergency response plans for each project site and conducts emergency response drills as required by company standards.
• Be familiar with and adhere to all occupational health and safety regulations, guidelines and best practices to preserve employees’ safety.
• Supervise the subcontractors during all phases of projects and ensure the sub-contractor safety management program is adhered to.
• Be familiar with and act as an expert resource to employees with all company health, safety, environmental and HR policies and procedures while in the field.
• Perform pre-use inspection for all equipment being used in the project
Working Conditions: The candidate must be able to adapt to changing priorities and work in a sit/stand position for the majority of the shift. This position requires regular attendance, constant professionalism and to maintain confidential information discreetly. This role is primarily outdoors and is exposed to all weather conditions and temperatures. The candidate must be capable of working extended hours and extended shifts of up to 16 hours per day and up to 24 days continuously.
Job Requirement:
• At least 5 years of work experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator is mandatory
• With 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role is mandatory
• Excavator Operators Ticket or Equivalent an asset
• Tractor/Dozer Operators Ticket or Equivalent an asset
• Able to conduct repairs on equipment including performing welding operations as per 4F ASME
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
• Training and experience in overhead and underground utilities
• Current First Aid level C
• Must be able to pass pre-employment Alcohol and Drug Testing and must continue to pass testing during entire duration of employment.
Physical Demands This position requires the ability to lift 50-100 lbs on a frequent basis. Long periods of sitting, standing and exposure to weather conditions and temperatures.
