 Description  : MVMTLAB Sports Performance Clinic located at Suite #500, 55 Water St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1A1, is a multidisciplinary & integrated health clinic specializing in treating elite athletes and the general active population. We are looking for an outstanding athlete-practitioner to join our team as a Registered Massage Therapist focused on treating runners and track & field athletes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Interview clients to gather medical information/physical condition to determine massage techniques that will be most helpful to relieve pain and stress
• Utilizing knowledge and experience as a competitive athlete, create therapeutic and rehabilitative massage treatment plans for elite athletes to ensure continued top performance and/or recovery from injury.
• Teach specialized classes to elite athletes providing techniques and therapies that focus on prevention and recovery from injury to maximize top performance.
• Collaborate with other health care professionals, such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and psychologists, to develop treatment plans for clients.
• Assess clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
• Provide clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement and stretching, strengthening, relaxation, and rehabilitative exercises.
• Refer clients to other types of therapists when necessary.
• Inform clients about benefits and risk of treatments and procedure
• Perform other adjunctive therapies or treatment techniques in addition to massage as needed
• Use complementary aids, such as infrared lamps, laser, wet compresses, ice, heat pads, shockwave therapy as needed, to promote clients' recovery, relaxation, and well-being.

The ideal candidate possesses or exceeds the following qualifications:

• Is a Registered Massage Therapist licensed to work in British Columbia
• Is (or was) an elite level athlete having competed at a National and/or International and/or Professional level, as a Runner and/or Track & Field Athlete, or in a related field with a strong background in injuries experienced by competitive runners
• Has exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated customer service experience
• Has at least 1-2 years of experience working with and treating high-level competitive athletes both for injury recovery and prevention protocols
• Has a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Biology, Applied Sciences, Neurology, or Exercise Physiology
• Has an interest & demonstrated ability to teach group classes, and to co-develop a running program aimed at current patients wanting to increase their running performance in combination with clinical treatments
• Can demonstrate a solid understanding of DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stability) and Neuroplasticity principles, how they apply to the diagnostics process of a patient's issues and how to translate those findings into an effective treatment plan
• Has perfect command of the English language and is a strong communicator, both verbally and in written form
• Demonstrated prior knowledge of the JaneApp online booking system


The pay we offer is competitive, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week at a base rate of $25/hr, plus $30 bonus per 1hr-massage completed. Additional pay available when teaching running performance and/or Neuroplasticity-based sports rehabilitation classes and seminars.
